About Me

Welcome! My name is Mai Okano, pronounced my o’kah-no. I’m a 1.5 generation, Japanese-American, queer female. I provide individual therapy in person and telehealth for adolescents, ages 13 to elders. My background is a clinical social worker and have experience working in a variety of different areas including community mental health, school-based counselor, hospital/medical system, residential care, hospice, and public health.

Mental health treatment has come a long way in the last two decades, supported by neuroscience that can help de-mystify what is happening in our body and brain. There are clear guidelines on how to improve your quality of life. I often hear from clients, “I wish I knew this earlier.”. My biggest strengths as a therapist are my own stories of struggle and working through them. I find many of my clients have incredible wisdom and strength that they are unaware of. One of the most important aspects of choosing a therapist is determining if it’s a good fit for you. I strive to make sessions inviting, warm and allow you to set the pace.
Outside of work, I like trying new recipes and making Sunday dinners for my family. I enjoy disconnecting and walking the beautiful trails in the Pacific Northwest with my doggo. I’m a big, stand-up comedy fan and like catching a live show when I can.
